Time for me to introduce myself!

Hi, my name is Gemma and a freelance copywriter and content writer.

I set up this blog as a way to share some of my tips and advice for business owners who need help with their copywriting and digital marketing.

What is copywriting?

Copywriting is the art (or science) of writing words that persuade. Most commonly, a copywriter writes with the purpose of selling a product or service to a target client. 

You can find copy everywhere you look. Magazine adverts, social media ads, websites and also email marketing. It forms a key part of a business' marketing strategy which when done right can earn your business a lot of money.

Copywriting vs Content Writing

Copywriting regularly gets confused with content writing but there is a difference. Content writing is written for a different purpose - usually for engagement. It's most commonly found on blogs like this one, but is also used in social media captions.

Content writing and copywriting go hand in hand. You use content writing to build a community and then use copywriting to sell to them. In order to do either, you need to know your audience and this is where research comes in handy.

Knowing your Audience

I can't stress enough how important it is to do research into your target audience. You need to find out more about them, who they are, what they like and don't like and most importantly learn what problems they are having so you can step in and offer them the solutions.
