Where to Find Content Ideas for your Next Blog Post?
You have to put content out on a regular basis, but it can be hard. What do you write about? What are your clients interested in?
Initially, when you begin writing for your blog, it may seem like you have literally hundreds of ideas, but when it comes to writing on that blank page in front of you, your mind can go blank.
It’s good to keep a list of ideas of things you can write about, I have a spreadsheet of all my ideas both good or bad and then when planning for the month I pick out a few which I want to write about.
But what happens if you are stuck for ideas? Well there are lots of websites and things you can do to help inspire you. Here’s some of my favourites:
1. Ubersuggest
Ubersuggest is a keyword searching website which shows which keywords are most popular on search engines. It also shows popular content ideas using those keywords and its a fantastic place to try
2. Answer the public
Answer the public is a fantastic tool. Type in your keywords and it shows what questions are being searched regularly online - fantastic for giving you ideas for your next post.
3. Answer Socrates
Answer Socrates is similar to Answer the public and is also a great resource
4. Social media
Facebook groups, Instagram explore, Instagram reels, tiktok feed, the linked in feed, Pinterest, and Twitter - all places for great inspiration. You can also check out what your competition is posting and do your own spin on it.
5. Quora / Reddit
Quora and Reddit are online question forums. People go on here to ask questions and members of the public provide their answers. It’s a great source for content and ideas.
6. Google Search
This is one of my favourite places to look for ideas. Type in your category or theme and in the feed you will see the top articles and if you scroll down you will see the most commonly asked questions with relevant articles providing answers.
7. Podcasts
I love a good podcast. I’ve been inspired a few times listening to these. You could write your own version of the subject matter, or if a comment has been made that you don’t agree with or if you have a better point of view it makes a great post either as a blog or for your socials.
8. Read a book or news article
I’ve been inspired a few times by news articles and have written a few posts in the past on my thoughts on things in the media. Likewise I’ve found inspiration in books. I’ve got a few quotes on my instagram feed that I’ve found in books (both non fiction but also fiction) such as Memoirs of a Geisha and Lord of the Rings.
You really can find inspiration anywhere, whether you are looking for it or not. Just sit down, start writing and who knows where you will end up.
What inspires you? Let me know in the comments.
